I offer remote services for clients who opt to forward copies of documents to be proofread and copy edited. I also make onsite visits in the Tucson area and will come to the client's location to provide proofreading and copy editing services.

Proofreading Services Include: Correcting typos, double words, grammatical errors, misspelled words, punctuation errors, formatting issues, and making minor edits (sentence structure, clarity, conciseness, and style) Copy Editing Services Include: Everything listed under proofreading services and making comprehensive edits (double-checking the table of contents, footnotes, bibliography, etc., double-checking consistency of actions, fixing echo words, fact-checking, accuracy of timeline, checking for correct sequence of chapter and page numbers) I use the most recent editions of The Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster Dictionary. I work in MS Word using Track Changes, Google Docs using Suggesting, or Adobe Acrobat using highlight and comments. You will receive: - 1 file with visible changes (you can accept or decline each edit) - 1 file with applied changes (this one is ready to go with no visible changes; unavailable for PDF files) Rates start at $0.01 per word or $35.00 per hour. The quoted rate will be determined by several factors including, but not limited to: service selected, word count, content, complexity, deadline, and client preference. Hello and welcome. My name is Xavier, proprietor of 200 Proofreading and Copy Editing, and I’ve been a writer and word junkie for almost fifty years. I've devoted much of my adult life to zealously pursuing and honing my craft and been intimately involved in the sweet process of turning the English language into print across three careers: as a U.S. military officer, federal government civilian stationed abroad, and professional freelancer. My oeuvre encompasses everything from personnel performance evaluations, white papers, and a 130-page Master's thesis on Chinese special operations forces to résumé templates, book reviews, and a ghostwritten autobiography of a local celebrity, and I've worked at the behest of individuals, groups, and organizations. I am a proud member of:

- The Freelancers Union, the largest and fastest-growing organization representing 56.7 million independent workers across the country.

When I'm not proofreading or copy editing, I enjoy writing sleazy military science fiction (two novels published, one in the works), reading everything I can get my hands on, studying mathematics and languages (fluent in Russian and Spanish, slogging through Mandarin Chinese), instructing Kapap and Krav Maga, watching movies, and hiking the Catalina Mountains with my wife Juliana.
